LAFAYETTE JEFF CRAWLEY CENTER (BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL, WRESTLING) The Lafayette Jefferson High School Crawley Center is the ninth largest high school gymnasium in the country and the home to Bronchos’ boys and girls basketball, girls volleyball and boys and girls wrestling. The 7,200 seat venue was built in 1969 and is located in the “Cradle of Basketball” in the state of Indiana. Lafayette Jeff won its first state championship in 1916, and then under the direction of head coach Marion Crawley, the Bronchos won the state title in 1948 and 1964. In addition, Crawley won 24 straight sectional games in his tenure from 1942-66. Crawley posted a career record of 458-146 and a Indiana High School Athletic Association Tournament record of 138-22. Today, the massive venue host regular-season high school games, the Franciscan Health Hoops Classic, sectionals, regionals and semi-state games on a regular basis. There is also a lot of history from Lafayette Jefferson’s past, including historic photos of team championships in the staircases, trophies on display near the entrance, and the Denny Blind Gym. The school’s championship banners are clearly visible above the south end of the gym above the concession stand. Crawley Athletic Center has two main levels and access is simple to get up and down to all sections of seating, including an elevator for those with the need.
