Clayton Richard steps down from Baseball Head Coaching Position

By Justin Gardiner | Jun 25, 2024 2:01 PM

June 25, 2024 Lafayette Jefferson Head Baseball Coach Clayton Richard has announced that he we will step down from the head coaching position. Coach Richard cited the need to spend more time with his children and family as the reason for stepping back from the head coaching role of the Broncho Baseball program. Over the past 3 seasons, the program has made great strides at the high school level in improving the overall skill level and discipline of the high school student-athlete under his leadership. Perhaps his longest lasting mark will be the impact he has had in reestablishing the feeder system for the Lafayette Jefferson Baseball program, including bringing back the Lafayette Lightning, introducing elementary after school baseball programs at three elementary schools (with plans in the works for expansion to more schools), and establishing a school-based junior high program. Clayton plans to stay involved with the Jefferson Broncho athletic programs, including baseball, especially as his children move up through the feeder system and into high school. The search for a replacement will begin right away. Justin Gardiner Athletic Director – Lafayette Jefferson High School
