The Norsemen Varsity Wrestling Team embarked on a journey to Adams Central High on Saturday, a journey that culminated in their participation in the highly prestigious Indiana High School Coaches Association 1A Team State Tournament. This event, known for its rigorous selection process that honors the best of the best, brought together the top 12 schools from the 3A, 2A, and 1A classes and the top eight schools from the 4A class. Every participant embodied the spirit of excellence, from the meticulously chosen top teams from the IHSAA individual semi-state locations to the wildcard entries. The Norsemen, a team that embodies the true spirit of sportsmanship, finished the day 7th with a record of 2-2 against the toughest 1A Team in the State. Northfield faced Switzerland County Pacer in the opening round, pulling a 38-37 victory down to the last second of the final weight class. The Norsemen next face the hoston Adam Central Jet, losing 59-20. In Round Three, they face the Alexandria Monroe Tigers, losing a close match-up 44-34. In the final round, attempting to place 7th, the Norsemen defeated the Rochester Zebras 42-39. This victory was the Norsemen's 30th dual meet win this season, marking the best season record in 30 years. Their respectful and appreciative attitude towards their opponents truly reflects their character. The team is extremely honored to be recognized and forwarded the opportunity to compete in this fantastic tournament.
