The Northfield Girl's Wrestling Team took five wrestlers to Rochester High School on Saturday to compete in the Indiana High School Girls Wrestling (IHSGW) Semi-State Tournament on Friday. The Northfield as a Team finished 5th of 30 Teams with 194 girl wrestlers from Northeastern Indiana. Juniors Ella Gahl and Lindsey Dill won their first two matches, punching their ticket to the State Tournament next week in Kokomo. Gahl continued her undefeated season, going 4-0 on the day, placing 1st in the 130lbs weight class. Dill went 3-1, placing 2nd in the 140lbs weight class. Freshman Amarah Frieden and Sophomore Ella France went 1-1, losing in the Quarterfinals (Ticket Round), ending an excellent season for both. Senior Alexis Gates also went 1-1, losing in the Ticket Round, closing her wrestling career by earning four varsity letters and 57 victories. Alexis's dedication, leadership, and courage reflected great credit upon herself, Northfield Wrestling, and Northfield High School. Thank you, Alexis!
