The Northfield High School hosted the first wrestling invitation attributed to the Great Coach Bill Campbell. The Invitational was previously titled the Wabash County Invitational and hosted the three other county schools, Manchester, Southwood, and Wabash, as well as four other teams (Southern Wells, Union City, South Bend Clay, and Fort Wayne North Side). Northfield petitioned to create the Coach Bill Campbell Wrestling Invitational with the other county schools to create an event that would pay tribute to the legacy of Coach Campbell. Campbell coached Northfield Wrestling for 35 years and is its cornerstone. Northfield finished the tournament 5-0 on the day as a team, beating Wabash (42-39), Manchester (45-35), and Southwood (56-23). Northfield beat Union City (54-32) and Southern Wells (42-36).
