Varsity vs FW Wayne Northfield Varsity Norseman Roll Past Fort Wayne Wayne Northfield Varsity Norseman won big over Fort Wayne Wayne 22-1 on Wednesday. Northfield Varsity Norseman jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Rae Delgado homered to left field, scoring two runs, Teagan Baer singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Mikayla Meyer drew a walk, scoring one run, Delgado drew a walk, scoring one run, and Kaylee Dennis singled, scoring two runs. Northfield Varsity Norseman added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Fort Wayne Wayne committed an error, Delgado was struck by a pitch, and Gemma Haupert was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. Northfield Varsity Norseman added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Sophie Powell doubled down the left field line, and Fort Wayne Wayne committed an error, each scoring one run. Northfield Varsity Norseman scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Northfield Varsity Norseman scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to center field by Gemma Haupert. Kaylee Dennis earned the win for Northfield Varsity Norseman. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three. Hathoway took the loss for Fort Wayne Wayne. The starting pitcher went three and one-third innings, surrendering 21 runs (10 earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking 15. Ali Copeland, Baer, Powell, Dennis, Haupert, and Delgado each collected one hit for Northfield Varsity Norseman. Delgado went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Northfield Varsity Norseman had patience at the plate, accumulating 16 walks for the game. Miranda Meyer, Meyer, Powell, and Haupert led the team with two free passes each. Copeland stole three bases. Northfield Varsity Norseman ran wild on the base paths, tallying eight stolen bases for the game. Northfield Varsity Norseman will travel to Fort Wayne South Side Varsity Archers for their next game on Tuesday.
