Six Northfield Girls Wrestlers Compete at Regional Tournament in Kokomo, Frieden Punches Ticket to State Final

The Northfield girls wrestling program was strongly represented on Saturday as six regional qualifiers took the mat at the IHSAA Girls Regional in Kokomo. Each athlete wrestled with determination and composure, demonstrating the continued growth and momentum behind Northfield’s girls wrestling program. The Norse were represented by: Emerson Zwiebel (100), Fiona Schnelker (125), Olia Leffert (130), Amarah Frieden (140), Sheila Smith (145), and Izabella Schultz (190). Each competitor earned her spot through hard work and steady progress, and all six battled against some of the toughest wrestlers in northern Indiana. Northfield recorded several strong early round victories, including multiple first period falls and decisive advancement through opening brackets. The standout performance of the day came from Amarah Frieden, who fought her way through a competitive 140 lb field to secure a 3rd place finish—officially earning her place at the IHSAA Girls State Tournament.
