However, they roared out of the locker room and went on a 19 - 2 run to start the 3rd quarter and then pulled away for a 47 - 40 victory over Owen Valley in the first round of the Sectional at Speedway High School. AJ Norris sparked Edgewood's run with 8 3rd-quarter points, and the Mustangs amped up the defensive intensity to hold the Patriots to only 11 points in the second half. Norris led Edgewood with 13 points, while Reece Roberts added 10 and Carter Hayden had 8. In addition, Zane Powell and Karson Gladhill scored 6 points each, Luke Druckrey had 3, and Evan Jacobs had 1 point to complete the scoring for the Mustangs.
