Cold-shooting 2nd half dooms Edgewood

Edgewood took a 9-point lead into the locker room at halftime, but shot an icy 2 of 17 from the field after that in a disappointing 41 - 36 loss to visiting Martinsville. A 3-point third quarter by the Mustangs allowed the Artesians to take a 1-point lead, and Edgewood couldn't find enough offense down the stretch to pull out the victory. Caden Jones scored 13 points to lead the Mustangs, while Reece Roberts had 10 and Carter Haywood added 9 points. Unfortunately, the rest of the team was only able to muster 4 additional points, with AJ Norris and Evan Jacobs scoring 2 points each. Norris and Jones pulled down 4 rebounds each and Norris added 3 assists to lead Edgewood in those categories. And, while not showing up in the stat-sheet, Jacobs did an excellent defensive job against the Artesians' top scorer, limiting him to only one made basket and 6 total points. The Mustangs will try to get back on track when they travel to Indian Creek on Friday.
