Wabash Boys Soccer Battles Hard in Narrow 1–2 Loss to Caston The Wabash Apaches faced off against Caston and, despite controlling much of the second half, couldn’t quite find the back of the net in a tough 1–2 defeat. The first half was wide open, with both teams having goals called back as play swung end to end. Caston struck first and looked to carry momentum after a saved penalty attempt, but the Apaches answered back. Ollie Sapusek linked up with Max Carpenter for a well-worked equalizer, sending the teams into halftime tied 1–1 and setting the stage for an exciting second half. After the break, Wabash seized control of the game, dominating possession and creating multiple scoring chances through sharp midfield passing. Jaxton Buzzard, Sawyer McNally, and Prestyn Jones combined skillfully to move the ball around the Comet defense, but the finishing touch just wouldn’t come. A series of near-misses and clutch saves kept Caston alive until they grabbed the go-ahead goal with 14 minutes remaining. The Apaches kept pressing until the final whistle, rallying for more opportunities, but the equalizer never came. Wabash now looks ahead to Tuesday, when they host Oak Hill.
