Middle School Girls Cross Country Team Wins Mississinewa Invitational

The Wabash Middle School girls cross country team made their season debut Saturday morning at the Mississinewa Invitational. For many of the runners, it was their first time competing in a meet, and they rose to the challenge with determination and spirit. The young Apaches navigated the course with confidence, gaining valuable race experience and showing the promise of a strong season ahead. Their efforts led them to take 1st place as a team against strong competitors with 7 out of the 11 girls placing in the top 25. Coming in first for the running Apache crew was 8th grader Teresina Cordes, placing 2nd overall and running a time of 11:39. Second for the team was a 8th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with a time of 13:08 and placing 5th overall. Next into the shoot was 8th grader, Briar Stoffel, running in with a time of 14:14 and taking 7th place. Coming in next was our 5th grader, Eva Sommers, with a time of 15:23 and placing 13th as an individual. Next up was 6th grader, Braelyn Kelly, with a time of 16:01 and placing 18th over all. Following Kelly was a 7th grader, Alexis Lynn with a time of 16:39. Lynn placed 20th overall. Next for the Apaches was a 5th grader, Ruby Cantrell, running in a time of 17:01 and placing 22nd. Running into the shoot next was another 5th grader, Rory Edwards, with a time of 19:59 and finishing in 28th place. Next in was Adelyn Edwards, a 7th grader, running a 20:50 time and taking 30th place. Our Apache squad was finished out by Harper Ellet, a 7th grader, finishing her race in 23:18 and placed 31st overall. There were 33 runners in the race. With their first meet now behind them, the Wabash girls are eager to build on the experience as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
