Wabash Boys Soccer earned their first win of the season Thursday with a 2-1 victory over Caston. Caston scored midway through the first and had the lion's share of possession in the first half. The Wabash defense held up under the pressure and the tide began to turn in their favor as the first half closed. Caleb Daugherty set the tone for the second half as he pursued the second half kickoff forcing a turnover deep in the Caston side of the field generating momentum for the Apaches. Seconds later, Ty Carpenter throw-in led to a Daugherty shot saved by the keeper, which Max Carpenter cleaned up to even the score. This led to a flurry of activity in front of the Comets' goal which culminated in a Max Carpenter shot from distance that floated over the keeper to give Wabash the lead. Caston responded with more offensive pressure and only some key plays by Jose Robles, Derek Reed and Jake Vandegrift were able to deny them an equalizer. Wabash returns to action on Tuesday when they face Oak Hill.
