The two teams battled it our in the singles positions with tightly contested matches in all spots, eventually losing 2-3 in match play. Cooper Long at 2 singles continues his hot streak of wins, defeating Flanary of Eastern in 3 sets (4-6, 6-2, 6-4). "It was great to see Cooper bounce back after a first set loss. His play from that point showed great maturity to maintain his composure and continue to play to his strengths and force his opponent to be reactive to the points." Coach Mattern The second point for Wabash came at 3 singles where Ashton Coffman won in straight sets over Selleck 6-2, 6-4. Coffman is now riding a 5 match win streak and continuing to play better each outing. Mattern, at 1 singles, lost in straight sets 6-7 (4-7) and 3-6. Mattern played well but struggled to hold serve in set one. Starting the tie break 1-6, Eli made a run to get to 4-6, but Armogum was able to get the point needed to win set one on an unforced error from Mattern. Set two was more of the same, Mattern playing his game with hard ball striking and aggressive play only to be out dueled by Armogum's defensive play. Both Doubles teams lost, but clearly showed improvement this outing. "We have been focusing on mechanics in practice as all doubles players are new to the game essentially." Mattern shared. Shepler and Pence played a nice match at 1 doubles losing 0-6 in set one, but finding a way to win 3 games in the second set. TJ Tracy and Karson McKenzie at two doubles also showed better shot selection and mechanics leading to them getting 3 games throughout the match.
