The Lady Apaches had their first and only meet of the season on their own stomping grounds at the Wabash Invite Saturday morning. On the line with them were eight other complete teams. The girls accepted the challenge to come from their home course. Knowing that they practice strong every day and were ready to face the hills. At the mile mark, every single girl in both the varsity and JV race were ahead of their mile time targets. Ultimately, the race led to seven PR’s, a fourth place team finish, and a phenomenal end to our fifth graders season. The girls gave it their all today, and showed themselves that when they face the challenge, all they need to do is believe. Coming in first for the Varsity running Apache crew was 6th grader, Teresina Cordes, running a PR time of 11:50, taking 2nd place overall and far surpassing the previous Wabash Girls beat home time. Second for the team was a 6th grader, Sutton Stoffel, running in with a PR time of 13:30 and placing 20th overall. Next was Kinslee McBride, another 6th grader, running in 25th place with a PR time of 14:13. Close behind her was 7th grader, Eliza Denney, running in with a time of 14:22, closing in on her PR, and taking 28th place. Coming in 32nd place was 6th grader, Briar Stoffel, running a time of 14:41, also close to her PR. Next for the Apache crew was Emma Cantrell, a 7th grader, running a PR time of 15:30 and finishing in 43rd place. Kylie Mickleson, another 6th grader, followed in behind Cantrell with a PR time of 15:51 in 44th place. Rounding out the varsity squad was Camille Coffman, running a career PR of 16:35 and taking 48th place overall. There were 58 athletes within the varsity race. In the reserved race was our 5th grade trio. Our 5th graders were determined to complete their season strong; with set intentions, that is exactly what they did. First of our 5th graders to come through was Harper Ellet. Ellet ran a career PR time of 18:53 and took 24th place. Close behind her was Addilyn McBride finishing with a season best time of 19:03 and taking 25th place. Finishing up for the trio was Adelyn Edwards with her time of 23:05 in 27th place. There were 27 girls in the boys and girls mixed reserve race. There were 54 athletes total. It was an incredible way to end their competitive season and we couldn’t be more proud. Next up for the MS Apaches is Conference being hosted at Manchester. This meet will be held next Saturday, so coming on out to support these athletes!
