Wabash Varsity Apaches were victorious against Blackford 7-2 on Saturday. Wabash Varsity Apaches got on the board in the top of the second inning after Blackford committed an error, and Wabash Varsity Apaches scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Wabash Varsity Apaches added one run in the third after McWhirt flew out. Sorg hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the seventh for the Wabash Varsity Apaches. McWhirt earned the win for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The righty gave up one hit and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking two. Norton took the loss for Blackford. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking two. Long tossed one inning of no-run ball for Wabash Varsity Apaches in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none. McWhirt and Sorg were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for the Wabash Varsity Apaches. Sorg went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Wabash Varsity Apaches in hits. Daughtry led the Wabash Varsity Apaches with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Cressell stole two bases. Wabash Varsity Apaches stole five bases in the game. Pitts and Heflin each collected one hit for Blackford. McIntire and Price each drove in one run for Blackford. Blackford turned one double play in the game. Wabash Varsity Apaches welcome Oak Hill on Monday for their next game.
