Sorg Leads Wabash Varsity Apaches Past Blackford

Sorg was dominant on the mound, as the pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in Wabash Varsity Apaches's 11-5 victory over Blackford on Saturday. Sorg allowed six hits and four runs over six innings while walking none. Wabash Varsity Apaches opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to two singles. Wabash Varsity Apaches first got on the board when Reed singled, scoring one run. Wabash Varsity Apaches scored five runs on zero hits in the top of the sixth inning. Reed drew a walk, scoring one run, Sorg drew a walk, scoring one run, Harris drew a walk, scoring one run, Cressell was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Long was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Norton took the loss for Blackford. The hurler went five innings, surrendering five runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out six and walking four. Long appeared in relief for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Reed set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Wabash Varsity Apaches with two hits in four at bats. McWhirt and Harris each drove in two runs for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Sorg led Wabash Varsity Apaches with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Daughtry and Reed each stole multiple bases for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Wabash Varsity Apaches ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Norton, Pitts, Parrott, McIntire, Storer, and Price each collected one hit for Blackford. Pitts, Storer, and Huffman each drove in one run for Blackford. Wabash Varsity Apaches will travel to Blackford for their next game on Saturday.
