Sorg Drives 5 Runners Home In Wabash Varsity Apaches Victory Over Mississinewa

Sorg drove in five runs on three hits to lead Wabash Varsity Apaches past Mississinewa 21-12 on Thursday. Sorg hit a home run to left field in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the second inning, scoring two. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Wabash Varsity Apaches collected 13 hits and Mississinewa 12 in the high-scoring affair. Wabash Varsity Apaches jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after McWhirt homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Miller singled, scoring two runs. Wabash Varsity Apaches scored five runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Sorg singled, scoring two runs; Cressell tripled, scoring two runs; and Miller grounded out, scoring one run. Wabash Varsity Apaches added nine more runs in the top of the fourth inning on four hits. Miller singled, scoring two runs; Reed hit a grand slam to center field, and Sorg homered to left field, scoring three runs. Mississinewa scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Quarderer hit a solo home run to center field, Mobley singled, scoring one run, Schwartz drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, one run scored on another play, Crandall singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Sailors earned the win for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The southpaw gave up three hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Baumgartner took the loss for Mississinewa. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, surrendering 10 runs on six hits, striking out two, and walking four. McWhirt started on the hill for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The righty surrendered four hits and four runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four. Sorg and Miller each appeared in relief for the Wabash Varsity Apaches. Wabash Varsity Apaches piled up 13 hits in the game. Sorg, Cressell, and Miller each collected three hits for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Long paced Wabash Varsity Apaches with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating 13 walks for the game. Wabash Varsity Apaches turned one double play in the game. Mississinewa accumulated 12 hits in the game.
