Reed Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Wabash Varsity Apaches Take The Win Over North Miami Varsity

Reed collected three hits in four at-bats, as Wabash Varsity Apaches defeated North Miami 17-7 on Wednesday. Reed doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Wabash Varsity Apaches scored nine runs in the fifth inning on the way to victory. Reed singled, scoring one run, McWhirt singled, scoring two runs, Harris was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Cressell doubled, scoring three runs, and Miller grounded out, scoring two runs. Wabash Varsity Apaches got on the board in the first inning after Sorg drew a walk, scoring one run. North Miami made the score 4-1 in the bottom of the first after Musall tripled, scoring two runs, Floor doubled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Wabash Varsity Apaches flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Sorg on an 0-2 count that drove in two. Wabash Varsity Apaches added one run in the third after Reed singled down the left field line. Long earned the win for Wabash Varsity Apaches. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one. McIntire took the loss for North Miami. The pitcher went four innings, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking five. Sorg appeared in relief for the Wabash Varsity Apaches. Wabash Varsity Apaches collected 14 hits in the game. Cressell led the Wabash Varsity Apaches with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Harris, Sorg, and Long each collected multiple hits for Wabash Varsity Apaches. Long stole two bases. Wabash Varsity Apaches had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Wabash Varsity Apaches stole five bases in the game. Hostetler and Musall each collected two hits for North Miami. Floor, Hostetler, and Musall each drove in one run for North Miami. North Miami turned one double play in the game. Wabash Varsity Apaches will travel to Mississinewa for their next game on Thursday.
