By Katelin Lloyd | Aug 26, 2023 8:10 AM

The running Lady Apaches travelled to the Wapahani Invitational early on Saturday morning. The weather was the most ideal after having this past week’s heat wave. 47 girls toed the line, running as 6 complete teams. With the first mile being quick, the Apaches had to find their race pace early to set the tone for miles two and three. Despite being on a new course, the girls ran with practiced skill and found their places early on in the race. Maintaining their placement across the finish line, 3 Lady Apaches placed in the top 20. As a team, the girls finished in 4th place overall. First for the lady Apaches was sophomore, Haylee Friend, running in with a time of 23:48 and taking 12th place overall. Following Friend was our lone Junior, Ivy Beamer, coming in 18th place overall with a time of 24:34. Mallory Tart, our first freshman, raced to the finish in 19th place and running a career PR time of 24:35. Coming in after her was Mia Fairchild, another freshman. Fairchild started her career with a time of 25:50 and taking 27th place overall. Irma Robles, a senior, followed in close behind with a career PR of 26:03 and placing 28th. Following Robles was another freshman, Rinka Higuera. Higuera ran a career PR time if 26:14 and snagged a close 31st place. Rounding out the group was a freshman, Josie Bailey, with a career setting time of 26:39. Bailey finished in 32nd place. The running Lady Apaches will be at it again next weekend at Manchester High School. Come on over to North Manchester to watch these ladies compete!
