By Keisha Wright | Aug 22, 2023 8:52 PM

The Lady Apaches picked up their first conference win over Rochester with a score of 2-0. Junior goalkeeper Olivia Braun had a fantastic game in goal with 10 saves on the night and also earned her first shoutout. The Wabash defense of senior Kiana Jones, juniors Macy VonUhl and Graci Napier and sophomore Jaycee Jones played tough the entire game, majorly contributing to the shutout and moving the ball up feeding our offense. Both Lady Apache goals were scored in the first half, with junior Kait Honeycutt finding the back of the net unassisted and then Honeycutt played a perfect ball for sophomore Logan Wright to put away. Senior Natalie Adams and junior Abbie Hipskind, along with Honeycutt did an outstanding job winning balls and possession in the center of the field, keeping the offensive pressure all game long. Junior Samantha Walter provided strong minutes as a wing and sophomore Raegan Jones provided great minutes again tonight, as well as earning Wabash a penalty kick. Lady Apache shots tonight came from Adams, Honeycutt, Wright, K. Jones, R. Jones, Hipskind and junior Maddie VonUhl. Wabash improves to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Lady Apaches continue their conference play Thursday at Peru at 5:30.
