Bears Open Season with Commanding 8-0 Victory Over Oakville The Ursuline Field Hockey Bears opened their 2026 season with a complete team performance, defeating Oakville 8-0 on August 28. Ursuline controlled the game from the opening quarter and scored in every period. The Bears took a 1-0 lead after the first quarter before breaking the game open with three goals in the second. They added two goals in both the third and fourth quarters to complete the shutout victory. The Bears displayed impressive offensive balance. Six players scored at least one goal, and five players recorded an assist. Lexi Nichol and Lulu Pittillo led the scoring effort with two goals each. Pittillo scored the game-winning goal. Regan Brillhart, Audrey DeHaven, Kara Eakle, and Sloane Seago each added one goal. DeHaven, Eakle, and Seago also recorded one assist apiece. Hadley Hockenberry helped direct the attack with three assists, the highest total on the team. Maura Murphy added another assist as Ursuline finished with seven assists on its eight goals. The balanced scoring reflected strong ball movement and unselfish play. Six different goal scorers made Ursuline difficult to defend, while contributions from across the lineup kept pressure on Oakville throughout the game. The Bears were equally effective on defense. Goalkeeper Morgan Hollenberg played 57 minutes, recorded one save, and earned the shutout. Ursuline’s defense limited Oakville’s opportunities and protected the circle throughout all four quarters. The victory gave the Bears a 1-0 record while establishing a strong early identity. Ursuline produced goals throughout the lineup, created opportunities for teammates, and kept its opponent off the scoreboard. One game does not define a season, but the Bears gave themselves a strong starting point. They played connected, stayed aggressive, and maintained their effort from the opening whistle through the final quarter.
