Congratulations to senior Allison Stout, whose classroom achievements have earned her the honor of Academic All-State from the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches. Juniors Katy Peacock and Avery VanDervort were listed as honorable mentions. Before Allison runs the last race of her career at tonight’s IHSAA Regional, we thought we’d take the time to get to know her better and get her advice for future scholar-athletes. Who are you, and what are your future plans? Hey I’m Alli! My future plans are to go to IU Bloomington to study nursing and Spanish as well as continue working as an EMT. My ultimate goal is to keep schooling after college to get my CFRN and become a flight nurse. Who has supported you on your academic and athletic journey? My mom has been a huge support for me in every aspect of life. Also definitely a huge thank you to coaches Cope and Lambright for being so present and supportive of both my athletic and personal growth over the past 4 years. And of course to all the amazing teammates I’ve had. What does it mean to you to be a scholar-athlete? Being a scholar-athlete has always meant to put school first, but to be active and hardworking with my team. I’ve learned that I don’t have to be the fastest to make a contribution. What will you take with you from your athletic experience? Especially with running sports, I’ve learned about endurance–whether that’s while racing, or just in life. I’ve also learned about making connections and creating lasting friendships; that will be the thing that truly lasts beyond RHS. Anything else you'd like to say/thank/shout-out before we go? A huge thank you to my dad for introducing me to running, the sport that’s changed my life!
