In the dynamic world of college sports, individuals like Rylee Hampton shine as pioneers, challenging norms and shaping the future of athletics. From her beginnings at Richmond High School to her current internship at Wake Forest, Hampton's story exemplifies resilience, dedication, and a drive to achieve her goals. During her time at Richmond High School, Hampton's involvement in managing wrestling and football teams showcased her diverse skills in sports management, equipment operations, and social media management. Like most college students, transitioning to Marshall University posed financial challenges, but Hampton's determination secured her financial aid, allowing her to pursue her academic and athletic passions. Rylee earned 25% of her tuition her first year, and that number increased by 25% each following year. Her role with the Marshall football team, mentored by Coach Huff, further fueled her passion for collegiate athletics. Now, as she embarks on an internship at Wake Forest, Hampton breaks barriers as the sole female manager, representing progress and inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated field. Hampton sees her role not only as a personal achievement but also as an opportunity to influence young athletes, instilling values of discipline and teamwork. Interested in a similar path in college athletics? Rylee will be at the RHS cafeteria during all three lunches on May 20 to share her experiences with interested students. She would be happy to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
