Lawrence Athletics

Noah Wiswary joined Lawrence Public Schools after spending several years at the University of Olivet. While at Olivet, he played five years of collegiate basketball before transitioning into a role within the athletic department as an Assistant Athletic Director while also gaining valuable coaching experience. Wiswary now serves as the Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and Head Boys Basketball Coach at Lawrence. In his role, he works to strengthen the school’s athletic programs while supporting the academic and personal development of student-athletes. He is currently in his second year at Lawrence and continues to focus on building a strong culture of commitment, teamwork, and pride within Lawrence athletics.

Katie Messersmith is in her first year serving as the Athletics Secretary at Lawrence. Prior to joining Lawrence Public Schools, she spent several years at South Haven High School working in the Transportation Department. In her role as Athletics Secretary, Messersmith plays an important part in supporting the daily operations of the athletic department while helping create a positive and welcoming environment for student-athletes, coaches, and families. She is committed to helping strengthen school culture by supporting athletic programs, promoting school pride, and ensuring that Lawrence athletics continue to provide great experiences for students both on and off the field.

Melissa Pyle is in her second year as the Head Sideline Cheer Coach for both the football and basketball seasons. In her time leading the program, Coach Pyle has helped grow the team by increasing participation and building a stronger level of commitment among her athletes. Through her leadership, the sideline cheer program continues to develop energy, school spirit, and a positive team culture while supporting Lawrence athletics.

Coach Devauld is in his second year leading the Track and Field team after serving several years as an assistant coach in the program. In his first year as head coach, Coach Devauld helped grow the program by increasing participation numbers and building strong enthusiasm around track and field. Under his leadership, multiple athletes qualified for the state championships, highlighting the continued development and success of the program. Coach Devauld has also spent multiple years as the head assistant coach for the Girls Varsity Basketball team, where he has played an important role in developing players and supporting the success of the program. His experience across multiple sports and programs has helped him build strong relationships with student-athletes and contribute to the overall growth of athletics at Lawrence.

Coach Williamson comes to Lawrence after a successful basketball career playing at Siena Heights University. After two years there, he transferred to Grand Valley State University to finish his degree in Business.

Coach Gribler has been coaching at Lawrence for 50 years, serving in nearly every role across multiple sports. Throughout his time at Lawrence, he has made a lasting impact on countless student-athletes and programs. While he has contributed in many areas, Coach Gribler has spent the majority of his career leading the Varsity Baseball team.

Coach Sinkler has been a staple in the Lawrence community, dedicating many years to coaching and mentoring student-athletes across multiple levels of competition. He has worked with athletes from youth recreation leagues all the way up to the varsity level, helping develop not only their athletic abilities but also their understanding of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Throughout his time in Lawrence, Coach Sinkler has served as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and has also been a member of the Lawrence Baseball coaching staff for several years. His experience and commitment to student-athletes have made him a valuable part of multiple programs within the school. Due to the continued growth of the baseball program, Coach Sinkler was named the Head JV Baseball Coach last year. In this role, he focuses on developing younger players and preparing them for the next level, while continuing to build a strong foundation for the future of the Lawrence baseball program.
