October 25th 2025 The Hamilton Marines boys cross country team was proudly represented by two runners at the IHSAA New Haven Regional, held Saturday at Huntington University. The event featured a deep and competitive field of 247 total runners, making it one of the largest and most challenging races of the season. Junior Robert Schiek capped off his season in impressive fashion, running a personal best time of 17:47, finishing 107th overall. Schiek’s performance marked a 1 minute and 31 second improvement from his regional time last year — a testament to his hard work and consistency throughout the season. Freshman Lucas Taylor also turned in a strong effort in his first regional appearance, finishing with a time of 18:42, placing 194th overall. Competing in a field of this caliber and size provided valuable experience for the talented young runner. Both athletes battled through a chilly 37-degree start and a crowded race pack, showing tremendous determination from start to finish. Coaches Andy Baker and Doyle Houser expressed how proud they were of both runners’ performances and growth this season, noting their excitement to have them both back next year to build on this success. It was a strong finish to a memorable season for the Hamilton Marines cross country program! Great job boys!
