May 20th 2025 Softball: Hamilton 11, West Noble JV 5 The Hamilton Lady Marines closed out their home schedule with a strong 11-5 win over the West Noble junior varsity squad on Monday night. After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Marines quickly responded in the bottom half with three runs, led by Karly Nester’s single and run scored. Bella Rivera and Brenna Mercer also crossed the plate after drawing walks. Hamilton’s bats stayed hot in the second inning, plating four more runs to stretch the lead to 7-2. Taryn Kintz reached on an error and scored, Nester (walked) and Tristen Creager (doubled) also scored after reaching base, and Rivera delivered an RBI single and scored herself. Marissa Mercer added an RBI on a fielder’s choice. West Noble trimmed the lead to 7-3 in the third, but Hamilton answered with another three-run outburst. Kintz and Nester both singled and scored, and Creager scored after reaching on a walk. Rivera doubled, bringing in Creager for her third RBI of the night. Kintz added another run in the fourth inning after being hit by a pitch, giving the Marines an 11-4 cushion. West Noble managed one final run in the seventh, but the comeback fell short. Marissa Mercer started in the circle, tossing three innings, allowing three runs and striking out two. Rivera closed out the game with four solid innings, striking out seven and giving up two runs. The Lady Marines close their regular season Wednesday at Eastside, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Baseball: Hicksville 14, Hamilton 4 At Jim Sanxter Field, the Hamilton Marines baseball team battled hard but came up short in a 14-4 loss to the Hicksville Aces. The Aces came out swinging, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning. Hamilton responded with four of their own in the bottom of the frame, led by a strong offensive push. Harrison Richter reached base and scored, followed by Jagger Hurraw scoring after a walk. Zane Ritter delivered an RBI single, while Dalen Pfefferkorn and Clayton Spaw each singled and came around to score. Despite the early spark, the Marines couldn't keep pace with the high-powered Aces offense, which added four more runs in both the third and fifth innings. Hamilton continued to put runners on base, with Richter, Pfefferkorn, Ritter, and Drew Holiday all adding singles later in the game, but they were unable to convert those opportunities into runs. The Marines look to bounce back with two more home games this week. Tuesday night is Senior Night against Lakeland, followed by a matchup with Angola on Wednesday.
