Varsity Boys and Girls Compete at Bethany Christian

May 7th 2025 Nine schools gathered at Bethany Christian last night for an exciting varsity track & field meet that featured strong competition, standout individual performances, and close team finishes. Boys Results In the boys’ competition, Elkhart Christian narrowly edged out Ft. Wayne Blackhawk Christian to claim the team title, finishing with 139 points to Blackhawk’s 136. Lakewood Park Christian took third with 73, followed by Trinity (Greenlawn) (56) and Hamilton (48) rounding out the top five. Earning points for the Marines were: The 4x800 relay team clocked in at 9:51.70, earning 4th place. Jagger Hurraw scored in two hurdles events: 6th in the 110m hurdles (21.12) and 7th in the 300m hurdles (48.46). Josh Sprague placed 8th in the 100m dash (12.13) and tied for 6th in the high jump (5-00), also finishing 6th in long jump (18-00). Robert Schiek ran the mile in 5:17.57 for 9th, and placed 6th in the 3200m (11:36.03). Jace Bean took 7th in the 400m (57.97) and 8th in the 800m (2:21.42). In the 200m, Austyn Willibey (25.35) and Gavin Clark (25.39) finished 7th and 8th respectively. In the field events, Harrison Richter stood out with a 1st-place finish in discus (137-06) and 4th in the shot put (38-06.25). Christian Sanchez also contributed with a 9th-place finish in shot (33-04.50) and 7th in discus (101-06). Girls Results On the girls’ side, it was Lakeland Christian who emerged on top with 101.5 points, narrowly beating out Trinity (Greenlawn) (92.5) and Elkhart Christian (89). Hamilton finished 9th with 12 points, with a small but determined squad contributing valuable performances. Akira Geeraedts earned 6th in both the 100m (13.97) and **200m** (29.29). Lila Lavaure placed 10th in the 800m (3:04.59). Annalise Lingo** secured a strong 4th-place finish in the discus with a throw of 77-00. Both the boys and girls teams showed growth, resilience, and a competitive spirit throughout the meet. Next Up: The Marines return to action this Friday at Canterbury, where they look to build on their individual and team successes from Bethany.
