May 5th 2025 It was a full slate of action for the Marines over the weekend, with teams competing in track and baseball across multiple levels. Junior High Track – Friday at Westview The Junior High boys and girls track teams traveled to Westview on Friday, each finishing 7th overall in a competitive field. Highlights included a 1st-place finish in the Boys 1600 Medley Relay with a time of 4:23.71. Abbott Lingo had a standout meet, winning the high jump with a mark of 5-06 and placing 8th in long jump (14-07). Lucas Taylor earned points with an 8:17.38 in the 2400. The mixed 4x400 relay team claimed 4th with a time of 4:28.47. On the girls' side, Heidi Richter placed 6th in the high jump (4-04), Lydia Hicks took 7th in long jump (11-10.05), and Giana Ceci finished 7th in shot put (20-09). Varsity Boys Track – Saturday at East Noble The Varsity boys track team competed at East Noble on Saturday in a tough field, placing 8th. Scorers for the Marines included Jace Bean, who placed 7th in the 800m with a time of 2:20.35. The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams both earned 7th-place finishes. In field events, Copper Farnham took 5th in pole vault (9-00), and Jaggar Hurraw placed 6th in long jump (18-07.25). A major highlight came from Harrison Richter, who threw 140-01 in discus—good for 3rd place and just one foot short of the school record set in 1978 by D. Lockwood. Varsity Baseball – Saturday vs. Career Academy South Bend The Marines baseball team dominated at home on Saturday with a commanding 14-2 win over Career Academy South Bend. The offense came alive behind standout performances from: Harrison Richter: 2-2, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases, 2 RBI Drew Merritt: 2-2, 3 RBI, 3 runs, 2 stolen bases Zane Ritter: 2-3, 2 runs, 1 stolen base Clayton Spaw: 1-3, 1 run, 1 RBI, 3 stolen bases Dylan Holiday: 2-3, 2 RBI, 1 run Jagger Hurraw: 1-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI Dalen Pfefferkorn: 1-3, 1 run, 1 RBI Brendan Pfefferkorn: 2-2, 1 RBI Trenton Kintz: 1-1, 1 run Spencer Bredemeyer: 1 run, 1 stolen base The Marines look to keep the momentum going as they travel to Prairie Heights tonight for a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
