Marine Weekend Recap

April 15th 2025 This past weekend was a busy one for Marine Athletics, with softball, track, and baseball all in action. Here is a short recap of each team. Softball traveled to Ohio on Friday when they took on North Central. Hamilton was able to score 4 runs in the third inning, 2 in the fourth and 2 in the sixth but eventually did fall 8-18. On Saturday we took on Prairie Heights JV program for a double header. The Marines fought hard in game 1 but fell 5-6 after scoring 3 runs in the opening inning. In game 2 of the double header the Marines lost 3-19. Softball is back in action on Thursday when they host Central Noble. Baseball opened their season on Saturday with a Hoosier Plains Conference game against Career Academy of South Bend. The Marines came out ready to play scoring 12 in the first inning which eventually led to a 27-1 victory. On Monday we traveled to Lakewood Park where we lost 5-17. Baseball will be back in action on Wednesday as they host West Noble. Track and Field held the Marine Invite on Saturday. On the boys side Edon took home first place with 125.5 points. Hamilton placed 5th overall as a team with 50 points. Scoring for the Marines was Jace Bean in the 400 placing 3rd with a time of 56.38, he also placed 6th in the 800 with a time of 2:26.09. Robert Schiek and Copper Farnham placed 5th and 6th in the 1600, Schiek also placed 6th in the 3200 with a time of 11:36.32. In hurdles Caleb McMullen placed 5th with a time of 20.38 and Jagger Hurraw placed 6th with a time of 22.09, Jagger also placed with 5th in 300 hurdles with a time of 47.59. The boys 4x400 placed 5th with a time of 4:15.98 and the 4x800 also placed 5th. Hurraw placed 4th in high jump with a jump of 5-06, Farnham placed 3rd in pole vault with a height of 9-00, and Noah Lockwood placed 5th with a height of 8-00. Jagger scored 4 more points in long jump of 17-09 and Josh Sprague jumped 17-07.05. Harry Richter placed 4th in shot put and 2nd in discus. On the Girls side Eastside won overall with a score of 135.5 and Hamilton placed 7th with 4 points. TeigAnn Freed earned 2 points in long jump with a leap of 14-00, Lila Lavaure placed 6th in the 800 with a time of 3:22.41, and akira Geeraedts placed 6th in the 400 with a time of 1:11.78. Track is back in action on April 29th
