Saturday January 4th 2025 After tipping of the 2025 year on Thursday night, the Lady Marines were back in action on Saturday afternoon as the Aces of Hicksville made the trip across the stateline. The Aces came out early and took advantage of some early Hamilton turnovers, jumping out to a 0-6 lead. Tristen Creager followed up her own shot and scored the easy putback to bring the game to 2-11 with just under two minutes in the first quarter. TeigAnn Freed did exactly what Freed does and got a transition opportunity which put her at the free throw line were she connected on 1 of 2 to bring the score to 3-16 at the end of the first. Bella Rivera picked up a nice block and passed the ball up in transition leading to a Brenna Mercer basket early in the second quarter. Rivera knocked down a free throw with 2:39 left in the second to bring the score to 6-27. An Aces basket finished the half at 6-29. Freed got things going to start the second half after driving left off a great ball screen leading to a foul where she drained both free throws. She followed that up by forcing another foul while driving to her left, leading to 2 more made free throws. Great ball movement by the Marines led to a corner three for TeigAnn which was followed up by a free throw by B. Mercer and a 3 by Creager towards the end of the 3rd quarter to bring the score to 17-44 Karly Nester got on the board with a basket followed by a Creager bucket for the first 4 points to start the quarter. Bella drained a top of the key 3 which Freed followed up with an offensive rebound leading to 1 more made free throw. Taryn Kintz sunk two free throws and 1 more late free throw was added by Creager but Hicksville showed to be just a little bit too much on Saturday bringing the final score to 28-56. Next up for the Marines is another home game as the Legends of Northside come to town on Wednesday night at 6:00pm.
