Varsity Boys Battle at Hoosier Gym

Saturday December 21st 2024 In game number 2 of the girls and guys double header at the historic "Hoosier Gym" the Hamilton boys varsity team took on juggernaut of a team from Illinois who won the 1A state championship just last season. After taking a few possessions to get the excitement out and things back under control, the Marines were able to get on the scoreboard off a Jaggar Hurraw layup off a great cut and pass from Zane Ritter. Rebounds and turnovers played a vital key in the remainder of the quarter as the Marines fell behind 2-19. A back and forth second quarter for the Marines brought the score to 12-29. Ritter connected on an elbow jumper during the quarter while Dylan Holiday knocked down a free throw and Clayton Spaw scored a transition layup after a steal. A great seal in the post by Holiday got things going to start the third quarter followed by a Ritter drive and right hand layup. Holiday, Hurraw, and Spaw each added a layup but unfortunately the Cougars were able to grow their lead by 4 making it 23-44 at the end of the quarter. A back and forth lower scoring 4th quarter brought the final score to 30-57 in favor of West Central. Player and Team stats: C. Farnham: 1 rebound X. Schiber: 1 rebound C.
