Wednesday September 23rd 2026 What a night for Hamilton cross country! The varsity boys made history at the inaugural DeKalb County Championships, a new meet bringing Hamilton, DeKalb, Eastside, Lakewood Park, and Garrett together to compete for the county title. The small but mighty Marines finished second overall with 69 points, beating host DeKalb by just one point! Hamilton also finished 26 points ahead of Garrett and 27 ahead of Eastside. For our Marines to take runner-up honors against all four county opponents is a tremendous accomplishment! Team Points Lakewood Park 25 Hamilton 69 DeKalb 70 Garrett 95 Eastside 96 Senior Robert Schiek led the charge, placing second overall among 51 scored runners with a time of 17:19. Jace Bean came through in 14th place at 18:42. Both earned spots on the All-County Team, an honor reserved for the top 14 finishers! Lucas Taylor was right on Bean’s heels, finishing 15th in 18:49. Copper Farnham placed 17th in 19:14, and Marcus Sommers took 22nd in 20:00. Greysen Dilts finished in 22:35, followed by Ace Hill in 23:46, Theo Hicks in 25:39, and Gavin Clark in 26:23. Every Marine who raced contributed to a night this program can be proud of! The evening began with excellent team introductions by the DeKalb athletic staff. Thank you to DeKalb for putting on such a great first county championship, and thank you to the Hamilton supporters who came out and cheered our runners on. Way to show up, Marines!
