Saturday September 5th 2026 The Hamilton Marines varsity boys cross country team delivered a strong performance Saturday morning at the Marion Invitational, held at Indiana Wesleyan University. Competing in the Boys Gold Varsity Race, Hamilton placed eighth out of 22 teams with 177 points. The field featured 140 runners, and the Marines finished only 43 points behind the second-place team. RJ Schiek led Hamilton by tying his career-best time of 17:47. Schiek placed seventh overall and finished within 50 seconds of the race winner. Senior Jace Bean also earned a medal, placing 35th with a time of 19:26. Lucas Taylor followed closely behind in 37th place at 19:31, while senior Copper Farnham finished 39th in 19:43. Marcus Sommers crossed the finish line in 20:27, followed by Ace Hill at 22:14 and Graysen Dilts at 23:21. Theo Hicks recorded a time of 26:10, Sam Brandenberg finished in 26:36, and Gavin Clark completed the race in 26:57. The Marines will now have two weeks to train before returning to competition at the West Noble Invitational on September 19.
