Tuesday August 18th 2026 The Hamilton Marines varsity boys cross country team opened its season with an impressive showing in the 4K race at the DeKalb Invitational. Senior Robert Schiek led the Marines, placing ninth overall with a time of 14:22. Schiek showed tremendous improvement by cutting nearly one minute and 40 seconds off his time from last year’s race. Sophomore Lucas Taylor crossed the finish line in 15:49, improving his time from last season by six seconds. Fellow sophomore Marcus Sommers finished in 16:43, nearly 30 seconds faster than his previous time. Sophomore Graysen Dilts also made a major jump, finishing in 19:08 and improving by a full minute over last year. Freshman Theo Hick made his high school cross country debut and completed the course in 22:17. The Marines will return to action Saturday morning when they compete at Elkhart Christian Academy.
