Schiek Earns Double All-HPC Honors as Marines Break 4x800 School Record at Conference Meet

May 17th 2026 The Hamilton Marines varsity track and field teams competed Saturday at the Hoosier Plains Conference Meet hosted by Bethany Christian School. The Lady Marines finished 5th overall with 48 points while the boys team also placed 5th with 58 points.  The highlight of the day came from the boys distance squad as junior Robert “RJ” Schiek captured two individual conference championships, winning the 1600 meter run in 4:46.00 and the 3200 meter run in 10:38.15. With those victories, Schiek earned All-Hoosier Plains Conference honors in both events.  Hamilton also saw another historic performance from the boys 4x800 relay team of Jace Bean, RJ Schiek, Marcus Sommers, and Lucas Taylor. The Marines finished 4th overall with a time of 8:47.58, breaking their own school record that had been set earlier this season.  Additional top performances for the Hamilton boys included: * Lucas Taylor placing 6th in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:01.04 * Jace Bean finishing 5th in the 800 meters in 2:14.38 * Marcus Sommers placing 7th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.10 * Abbott Lingo placing 3rd in the 110 hurdles (17.78), 6th in the 300 hurdles (46.83), 5th in high jump (5-04), and 9th in long jump (16-07) * Gavin Clark taking 7th in the 100 meter dash (12.23) and 7th in the 200 meter dash (25.26) * Christian Sanchez placing 4th in shot put with a throw of 34-00 and 8th in discus with a throw of 96-00 * RJ Schiek also added a 4th place finish in long jump with a leap of 18-01  On the girls side, Hamilton was led by several strong performances across the board: * Lydia Hicks placed 4th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 54.62, 5th in the 100 hurdles in 19.22, and 6th in long jump with a jump of 14-00 * TeigAnn Freed finished 5th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:07.74, 6th in the 100 meter dash in 13.91, and 7th in long jump with a mark of 13-08.25 * Heidi Richter earned 4th place in high jump clearing 4-06 * Annalise Lingo was conference runner-up in discus with a throw of 90-06 and also placed 6th in shot put with a toss of 26-00.50 * Lilli Dager placed 3rd in discus with a throw of 84-03 and 5th in shot put with a mark of 26-01.25 * Akira Geeraedts finished 8th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.92  Next up for the Marines, the girls team will compete Tuesday at the IHSAA Sectional hosted by East Noble High School, while the boys sectional will take place Thursday at East Noble.
