Monday Recap: Varsity Baseball and Junior High Golf were in Action

May 11th 2026 The Hamilton Marines were back in action Monday night with varsity baseball hosting conference opponent Elkhart Christian Academy while the 5th-8th grade co-ed golf team traveled to Wawasee Golf Club for a three-team match against Central Noble and West Noble. On the baseball diamond, the Marines battled hard but fell to the Eagles 16-2 in Hamilton. Both teams were held scoreless in the opening inning before Elkhart Christian got on the board first with a run in the top of the second inning. Hamilton answered immediately in the bottom half when senior Larsen Dilts, playing in his final home game as a Marine, ripped a line drive double to center field scoring Spencer Bredemeyer to tie the game at 1-1. The Eagles would score the next eight runs to build a 9-1 advantage before Cooper Leininger worked his way around the bases with a stolen base and advances on two passed balls to score Hamilton’s second run of the night. Elkhart Christian added seven more runs late to secure the 16-2 conference victory. Offensively for the Marines, Liam Ferrell went 1-3, Lucas Taylor finished 2-3, Trenton Kintz went 1-3, and Larsen Dilts went 1-2 with a double and RBI. Cooper Leininger, Larsen Dilts, Lucas Taylor, and Trenton Kintz each recorded stolen bases on the evening. On the mound, Cooper Leininger struck out two batters, Brendan Pfefferkorn added three strikeouts, Trenton Kintz tallied three strikeouts, and Miles DeWitt recorded two strikeouts for Hamilton. Marines varsity baseball returns to action Friday night as they travel to Elkhart Christian Academy for a 5:30pm first pitch. At Wawasee Golf Club, Coach Kyra Lucas and the Hamilton junior high golf team competed against Central Noble and West Noble. Sam Watkins led the way for the Marines with a score of 55. Sloan Hurraw followed with a 60, while Bentley Lanning carded a 63 on the evening. The 5th-8th grade golfers will wrap up their season Thursday as they travel to Heron Creek for their final match of the year. Tuesday night will be a quiet evening for Marine Athletics as Hamilton takes the night off from competition to allow student athletes the opportunity to participate in the Hamilton Community Schools Band and Choir Concert along with the Art Display showcase beginning at 6:00pm at HCS.
