May 2nd 2026 The Hamilton Marines varsity baseball team battled through a back-and-forth contest Saturday afternoon, ultimately coming out on top with an 11-9 win over the Argos Dragons on Senior Day. Prior to first pitch, Hamilton honored lone senior Larsen Dilts for his dedication and contributions to the program. Argos jumped out early, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. The Marines answered right back in the bottom half when Trenton Kintz drove in Liam Ferrell to cut the deficit to 2-1 after one. Both teams were held scoreless in the second inning before Hamilton evened things up in the third, as Cooper Leininger came across the plate on a wild pitch to make it 2-2. The Dragons regained the lead in the top of the fifth, going ahead 3-2, but the Marines responded in a big way. Hamilton exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the inning, turning the momentum of the game. David Beard got things started with an RBI single, followed by a clutch hit from Larsen Dilts that brought in another run. Miles DeWitt added an RBI single to score Spencer Bredemeyer, and Matthew Buffenn followed with a hit that scored Dilts. Liam Ferrell kept the rally going with a single that brought home Lucas Taylor, and Cooper Leininger capped the inning with an RBI single to score Buffenn, pushing Hamilton ahead 9-3. Argos refused to go away, answering with four runs to cut the lead to 9-7 and eventually tying the game at 9-9. However, the Marines showed resilience once again, retaking the lead late and holding on for the 11-9 victory. Hamilton’s ability to respond in key moments and deliver timely hitting proved to be the difference in a hard-fought game. The Marines will look to carry that momentum into Monday evening as they return to action at home against Prairie Heights.
