JH Track Competes in Edon Invitational

April 30th 2026 The Hamilton Marines Junior High track and field teams traveled to Ohio on Thursday night to compete in the Edon JH Track & Field Invitational, turning in a strong overall performance highlighted by a runner-up finish from the girls team. On the girls side, the Marines placed 2nd overall with 108 team points, finishing behind Tinora (148). Camden-Frontier MS (55), Edon (52), Waldron (27), and No. Central (23) rounded out the field. Hamilton showcased impressive depth across both running and field events. Leading the way on the track was Mia Sawvel, who sprinted to a 2nd place finish in the 100 meters (14.62) and added a 3rd place finish in the 200 meters (31.26). In the distance events, Brookelynn Hart had a strong night, placing 2nd in the 1600 meters (7:07) and 3rd in the 800 meters (3:08), while Taitum Stoufer added a 3rd place finish in the 1600 (7:24). The hurdle crew delivered big points for the Marines, led by Piper DePriest, who captured 1st place in the 100 hurdles (19.21) and finished 2nd in the 200 hurdles (36.64). Lydia Szeman also contributed with a pair of 3rd place finishes in both the 100 hurdles (20.36) and 200 hurdles (36.69). In relay action, the 4x200 team secured a 2nd place finish with a time of 2:14, while the 4x400 relay added a 3rd place finish at 5:58. In the field events, Mia Weaver dominated the shot put with a 1st place throw of 27-10.05 and also earned a 3rd place finish in the discus (65-10), continuing a strong trend for the Marines in the throwing events. On the boys side, Hamilton finished 6th overall with 39 team points in a competitive field. Edon took home the team title (148), followed by Tinora (65.5), Camden-Frontier MS (55.5), No. Central (52), and Waldron (42). Top performances for the Marine boys included Hawkins Richter, who placed 3rd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:38, and Miles Moughler, who earned a 2nd place finish in the 1600 meters (5:48). The relay teams also contributed valuable points, with the 4x100 relay placing 3rd (1:07) and the 4x200 relay also finishing 3rd (2:17). The Hamilton Marines Junior High track teams will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Oak Farm, looking to build on another successful meet performance.
