April 30th 2026 Despite a 6-run deficit in the seventh inning, Hamilton Varsity Girls Softball almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-8 to Fort Wayne Wayne Varsity Generals on Thursday. Hamilton closed the gap by scoring on a Tristen Creager triple and a Brenna Mercer ground out in the 7th. Creager drove in four runners on the night going 2-2. A ground out by Gianna Ceci put Marines on the board in the bottom of the second. Fort Wayne Wayne took the lead in the top of the third 2-1. Tsumiya Sato doubled down the left field line, which helped Hamilton tie the game at two in the bottom of the third. The Wayne Generals retook the lead in the top of the fifth 3-2. The Generals scored five runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Mariss Mercer started in the circle for Hamilton, over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
