April 29th 2026 The Hamilton Marines hosted a great night of track & field competition at the Hamilton Invite, highlighted by strong performances from both the varsity boys and girls teams and a special pre-meet recognition of senior athletes. Prior to the start of the meet, Hamilton proudly honored four senior track athletes for their dedication and commitment to Hamilton Community Schools: Ethan Smazenko, Sam Lockwood, Aidan Lingo, and TeigAnn Freed. These seniors have played an important role in building the culture of the program, and HCS is extremely proud of the leadership and effort they’ve shown throughout their careers. Seniors from Lakewood Park and Oak Farm were also recognized in a great show of sportsmanship and respect across programs. Boys Recap The Marine boys had an outstanding night, surpassing the 100-point mark with a total of 115 team points, showcasing depth and competitiveness across the board. Team Standings: Lakewood Park – 162 Hamilton – 115 Blackhawk Christian – 93 Fremont – 65 Oak Farm – 34 Smith Academy – 2 Hamilton athletes placed in the top three in numerous events: 200 Meters: Magnus Hill – 3rd (25.32) 1600 Meters: Robert Schiek – 1st (4:48) 3200 Meters: Robert Schiek – 3rd (10:39) 110 Hurdles: Ace Hill – 2nd (18.13), Abbott Lingo – 3rd (20.75) 300 Hurdles: Abbott Lingo – 3rd (51.20) 4x800 Relay: 2nd place – 9:01.66 (just shy of the school record of 9:01.02 set in 2005) Pole Vault: Copper Farnham – 1st (9-00) Long Jump: Robert Schiek – 3rd (17-01) Shot Put: Christian Sanchez – 3rd (34-01.05) Discus: Christian Sanchez – 3rd (91-06) It was a complete team effort from the Marine boys, with strong contributions in distance, hurdles, relays, and field events. Girls Recap The Lady Marines continued to show growth and competitiveness, finishing with 66 team points against a strong field. Team Standings: Fremont – 141 Lakewood Park – 131 Blackhawk Christian – 87 Hamilton – 66 Oak Farm – 38 Top performances for Hamilton included: 100 Meters: TeigAnn Freed – 2nd (14.07) 100 Hurdles: Lydia Hicks – 3rd (19.29) 300 Hurdles: Lydia Hicks – 3rd (59.05) 4x100 Relay: 3rd place – 58.66 Pole Vault: Baylee Bartrom – 3rd (6-00) Long Jump: TeigAnn Freed – 1st (14-08) Discus: Annalise Lingo – 1st (92-08) The Lady Marines were led by standout performances in the field events and continued to build momentum across sprint and hurdle events. Overall, it was a successful night for Hamilton Track & Field, filled with strong performances, team pride, and a meaningful celebration of senior athletes. The Marines will be back in action Friday at Jimtown as they look to continue their progress this season.
