Fairfield beats Northwood in softball

Jones hit two home runs and drove in three as Fairfield Varsity Falcons defeated NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 9-6 on Saturday at Fairfield Jr-Sr High School. Jones homered in the fourth and sixth innings. NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 first got on the board when Sears - #13 singled, scoring one run. Fairfield Varsity Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a double by Spencer, and an error. Fairfield Varsity Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the second. Spencer doubled, scoring two runs, to give Fairfield Varsity Falcons the advantage, 4-2. NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Lambert - #10 homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Stevens - # 9 singled, scoring one run. Fairfield Varsity Falcons captured the lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the fourth when Spencer doubled, scoring one run, Jones homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Copen grounded out, scoring one run. Fairfield Varsity Falcons scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on an inside the park home run by Jones. Mast earned the win for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The hurler allowed 11 hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking two. Paul - #2 took the loss for NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits, striking out one and walking none. Jones collected the save. Fairfield Varsity Falcons piled up 13 hits in the game. Spencer and Jones were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Spencer went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Caouette and Mast each collected multiple hits for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Fought stole two bases. Fairfield Varsity Falcons stole five bases in the game. Fairfield Varsity Falcons were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Fought had the most chances in the field with 11. NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 accumulated 13 hits in the game. Lambert - #10 drove the middle of the lineup, leading NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Roeder - # 16 led NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 with three hits in four at bats. Sears - #13 and Gearhart - #5 each collected multiple hits for NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026. NorthWood Varsity Softball - 2026 turned one double play in the game.
