ELKHART, IN — The Fairfield Varsity boys golf team traveled to Bent Oak Golf Course on Saturday, May 9th, to compete in the highly anticipated Concord Invite. In a field packed with competitive programs, the Falcons secured a 5th place team finish with a collective score of 349. Elliott Leads the Pack The story of the day for Fairfield was the stellar performance of Jake Elliott. Elliott turned in a phenomenal round of 76, tying him with Culver Academy’s Hammer Brekelmans for the lowest individual score of the entire tournament. His steady play anchored the Falcons and proved he could go toe-to-toe with the best in the region. Consistent Team Effort While Elliott highlighted the individual leaderboard, the Falcons relied on a consistent effort across the lineup to stay within the top five. Jayce Smith and Ben Kio both navigated the course to card identical scores of 90. Brett Schrock contributed a solid 93 to the team total. Logan Leatherman rounded out the scoring for the Falcons with a 97. The Competition Culver Academy took the top spot on the podium with a team total of 327, followed closely by Penn Varsity (334) and Marian (336). Fairfield’s 349 put them right in the thick of the race, narrowly trailing 4th-place Wawasee (348) and finishing ahead of Lakeland, Goshen, and host Concord Varsity.
