Big Fifth Inning Leads Fairfield Softball Past Westview Warriors

Fairfield Varsity Falcons scored six runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Westview Warriors Varsity 10-0 on Tuesday at Fairfield Jr-Sr High School. Copen singled, scoring one run, Caouette doubled, scoring one run, Fought hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Ross homered to center field, scoring two runs. Fairfield Varsity Falcons jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Yoder tripled, scoring two runs, Copen doubled, scoring one run, and Tinsley hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Jones earned the win for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The hurler surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Bontrager took the loss for Westview Warriors Varsity. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering 10 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, striking out four and walking three. Fairfield Varsity Falcons collected 10 hits in the game. Ross, Caouette, Yoder, and Copen each collected two hits for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Ross, Yoder, and Copen each drove in two runs for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Fairfield Varsity Falcons were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Caouette had the most chances in the field with 10. Bontrager, Lehman, and Kaufman each collected one hit for Westview Warriors Varsity. Fairfield Varsity Falcons will travel to Central Noble Varsity Cougars for their next game on Monday.
