Fairfield Softball Firing On All Cylinders Against Angola Varsity Hornets

Fairfield Varsity Falcons won big over Angola Varsity Hornets 16-3 on Monday at Fairfield Jr-Sr High School. Fairfield Varsity Falcons got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Spencer singled, scoring one run, Yoder singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Caouette homered to center field, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Cripe singled, scoring one run, and a dropped third strike scored one run. Fairfield Varsity Falcons added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits. Park hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, and Ross tripled, scoring one run. Duran homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the third for the Angola Varsity Hornets. Fairfield Varsity Falcons added one run in the third after Caouette grounded out. Park earned the win for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Duran took the loss for Angola Varsity Hornets. The right-handed pitcher went three innings, allowing 13 runs (eight earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking two. Mast appeared in relief for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Park and Caouette were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Yoder led Fairfield Varsity Falcons with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. Fairfield Varsity Falcons turned one double play in the game. Duran, Essinger , and Quaderer each collected one hit for Angola Varsity Hornets. Duran led Angola Varsity Hornets with two runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day.
