Fairfield Baseball comes up short in NECC Tournament opening round

Fairfield Varsity Falcons lost to Angola 5-1 on Monday at Fairfield Jr. / Sr. High School. A single by Miller put Fairfield Varsity Falcons on the board in the bottom of the first. Angola flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Steury that drove in two. Steury earned the win for Angola. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one. Garber took the loss for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering two runs on five hits, striking out two and walking four. Castetter, Beachy, and Miller each collected one hit for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Miller led Fairfield Varsity Falcons with one run batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Fairfield Varsity Falcons turned one double play in the game. Fairfield Varsity Falcons were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Stair made the most plays with four. Angola collected nine hits in the game.
