Baseball Loses Both in Doubleheader

Fairfield Varsity Falcons fell to Concord Varsity Minuteman 4-2 on Saturday at Fairfield Jr. / Sr. High School. Concord Varsity Minuteman were the first to get on the board in the first when Kridler drew a walk, scoring one run. Fairfield Varsity Falcons took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Miller singled down the right field line, and Huser hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Ulfig singled down the left field line, which helped Concord Varsity Minuteman tie the game at two in the top of the third. Concord Varsity Minuteman took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the ninth thanks to doubles by Ulfig, and Moore. Bailey began the game for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking seven. Weatherholt started on the hill for Concord Varsity Minuteman. The righty allowed five hits and two runs over nine innings, striking out seven and walking one. Huser, Chupp, Garber, Miller, and Beasy each collected one hit for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Fairfield Varsity Falcons jumped into the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Garber drew a walk, scoring one run, and Beasy singled, scoring two runs. Concord Varsity Minuteman captured the lead, 7-5, in the top of the seventh when an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, and Brunswick drew a walk, scoring one run. W earned the win for Concord Varsity Minuteman. The pitcher gave up two hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
