Fairfield Varsity Falcons Fall To NorthWood Varsity Baseball After Surrendering Big First Inning

NorthWood Varsity Baseball defeated Fairfield Varsity Falcons 11-1 on Friday at Fairfield Jr. / Sr. High School thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning. NorthWood Varsity Baseball got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ransberger doubled, scoring one run, Blackford doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Weaver drew a walk, scoring one run, Bogan drew a walk, scoring one run, Miller drew a walk, scoring one run, Rondeau drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ransberger was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. NorthWood Varsity Baseball added one run in the third after Rondeau flew out. Miller earned the win for NorthWood Varsity Baseball. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Huser pitched four and one-third innings in relief for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The reliever surrendered four hits and two runs while, striking out two and walking one. Tobias took the loss for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The righty went two-thirds of an inning, allowing nine runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking five. Huser, Stair, and Tobias each collected one hit for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. NorthWood Varsity Baseball's Blackford, the number seven hitter, led NorthWood Varsity Baseball with two hits in three at bats. Ransberger, Rondeau, Weaver, and Blackford each drove in two runs for NorthWood Varsity Baseball. Miller led NorthWood Varsity Baseball with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. NorthWood Varsity Baseball turned one double play in the game.
