On Thursday, April 16, 2026, Fairfield High School traveled to LaGrange, Indiana, for a varsity and junior varsity dual meet against Lakeland High School. In a dominant showing across both track and field disciplines, Fairfield secured victories in both the men’s and women’s varsity team standings. Lakeland’s Jake Thompson dominated the hurdles, winning the 110m Hurdles in 15.14s and the 300m Hurdles in 43.95s.On the women's side, Emma Walter (Fairfield) showcased her speed by winning the 200m (26.42s) and leading the field in the 100m (12.20s). Carmen Rettig of Lakeland answered back with victories in both the 100m Hurdles (17.53s) and the 300m Hurdles (49.63s). Distance Events The distance events saw a split in dominance. Lakeland's Memphis Martin swept the longer distances for the men, winning the 1600m (4:41.92) and the 3200m (10:13.64). Fairfield's Layna Stoltzfus was equally impressive for the women, taking 1st place in the 3200m (12:29.50) and 2nd in the 1600m (5:38.35). Field Events Fairfield's Claira Foust had a stellar day in the field, winning both the High Jump (5' 2") and the Long Jump (15' 10"). In the throwing circles, Lakeland’s Ella Huppenthal swept the women's Shot Put (31' 10.75") and Discus (105' 10.75").Fairfield’s Casen Custer cleared 11' 0" to win the Pole Vault, while David Tsybulnik leaped 19' 9.5" to take the Long Jump title for the Fairfield men.
