Fairfield Varsity Falcons Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against Northridge Varsity Raiders By GameChanger Media It came down to the wire on Monday at Fairfield Jr-Sr High School, as Fairfield Varsity Falcons grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 8-7, over Northridge Varsity Raiders. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when Madison Jones hit a solo home run to center field. Fairfield Varsity Falcons came back to win despite trailing 6-0 in the second. Northridge Varsity Raiders got on the board in the top of the first inning after Willow Staley doubled down the right field line, and Fairfield Varsity Falcons committed an error, each scoring one run. A fly out by Kyla Kauffman, a double by Rachel Humbarger, and a passed ball helped Northridge Varsity Raiders extend their early lead in the second. Fairfield Varsity Falcons scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jones grounded out, scoring two runs, and Jayna Copen homered to right field, scoring three runs. Aubrey Ross singled down the left field line following a 6-pitch at-bat, which helped Fairfield Varsity Falcons tie the game at seven in the bottom of the sixth. Jones led things off in the circle for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. Leighla Winchester began the game for Northridge Varsity Raiders. The pitcher gave up 11 hits and eight runs over six and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Fairfield Varsity Falcons amassed 11 hits in the game. Ross, Maura Wilhelm, Copen, and Jones each collected two hits for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Copen and Jones each drove in three runs for Fairfield Varsity Falcons. Staley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Northridge Varsity Raiders with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Leadoff hitter Humbarger led Northridge Varsity Raiders with four hits in four at bats.
