CHS update regarding facilities/storm Dear Trojan Students and Families, First and foremost, I hope you and your families are safe. Like many of you, I have watched with concern as the storms have impacted our community and so many of the families we care about. It is heartbreaking to see the damage and disruption caused by these horrific storms, and I know many of you are dealing with power outages, property damage, and challenges that go far beyond the start of a school year. Please know that our thoughts are with you, and right now, your safety and your family’s needs are what matter most. While this is certainly not how we hoped to begin the school year, we are hopeful we will be able to start school soon and welcome all our students back to Chesterton High School. We miss having our students in the building, and we are excited about the opportunity to see our hallways filled with students, hear the familiar sounds of CHS, and begin another great year together. As we work through the impact of the storms and attempt to get back to some level of normalcy, Chesterton High School will allow optional practices for activities and teams beginning on Saturday, August 15, for varsity and junior varsity programs when appropriate and when coaches can safely supervise. These practices are completely optional and will be communicated by the appropriate coaches. We understand that some students may not be able to attend for a variety of reasons. There will be no penalty or negative consequence for not participating in an optional practice or activity. We are a strong community, and we will get through this together.
